I love brayering

If that is even a word...lol. It took me a long time to start to play with my brayer, and while I am still no where near as good as some people are I love to use it to create quick and simple cards. This one I did a while back for a challenge to use only the very basics of card making. Cardstock or paper and ink. I sort of expanded that by using the brayer, but I figured since it was not an actual embellishment of any kind, that it was ok. I also love that this card took me only about 4 minutes to make, including cutting all the cardstock, and putting it all together. Normally my cards are about 10 minute cards, since I am very particular about placement, making sure everything is exactly lined up and all that. I sometimes hate that I am so picky about that, but in the long run, it always looks great, so I guess that is the reward. This card is called 'broken flowers' since the petals go downwards I can not convince my son that they actually grow like this. I hope you like it.

polly wants a flower

Ok, well this isn't really a 'polly' and I am guessing 'she' doesn't actually want a flower, but my son sure thinks she does. This was made quite a while ago at a regionals seminar. I changed very little, but I did change a few things to make it more mine. I would have done more, but it was my first attempt at a make n take. I have yet to make more card wallets, but I really like the idea of it, so I am sure in the future I will make a few more, possibly even for my stampers 10 group. I love hearing what you think of these, so please keep the comments coming.

"Not Yellow Sun"

I am trying to use new and different color combos, and I mostly like this one. I am still not sure I love the card, but I think I really like the colors of it. According to my son there are 3 'not yellow suns' on this card and he has named it accordingly. Again you can see that I have used a stamp to make a background pattern... this is really starting to be my thing. I LOVE background stamps for just that reason, but unfortunately I don't have a ton of them, so I improvise a lot. I hope you like it.

Thlumper no bambi....

Isn't Thlumper cute?? and no that is not a spelling mistake. My son calls thumper, Thlumper, and this card is 'Thlumper no bambi'. I really like the look of designer series paper, but sometimes I just don't have the right color of paper, so I make it myself a lot of the time. I mainly use white ink on colored cardstock to get my homemade DSP.

Lots of Bots... sort of

I fell in love with this robot but wasn't sure I wanted to buy the whole set, so when I saw the So Cool rub- on set and saw him in it I had to have it. The card from yesterday came from the same set of rub-ons, so there is lots of versatility with this set, and for a great price too. I knew as soon as I started making this card who I was going to give it to, and while it will be hard to part with, (cause I think it is the cutest thing ever and I sure hope my nephew will love it as much as I do) I know my SIL will keep it, so that makes it easier to part with.

I had a fairly busy day today getting ready for my classes coming up, (there are still a couple spots left if you want to join in the fun and mayhem) and also unpacking an putting away all my wonderful new goodies that the 'yay man' delivered. Yes my son names everyone and everything.... the UPS man got his name because I say YAY a lot when he comes with my goodies. Ohhh I almost forgot, this cards name is "MO and friend"... ever seen the movie WALL-E? there is a little cleaning robot named MO and my son insists that the bag this robot is holding is MO and the robot is his friend.... Life is soooo simple when you are 3.

Rub-on Rub-off.... oh wait that is wax on wax off.

I love rub-ons, well now I do. I used to hate rub-ons, they never rubbed on completely, they came off with the slightest brush, and were just in general a PITA. I finally tried the ones from Stampin' Up and I LOVE THEM!!!! They are so smooth and go on so well. I could go on and on, but I will leave it with you really need to try them out if you haven't.

I am off to try and find a cool cake idea for a friend.

Aren't sundays for resting?

I have snuck back into the house to post this a bit earlier today than I have been posting lately. This is called "spider houses" since my son insists that there are actually 2 houses... one sitting on top of the other. I LOVE this jumbo wheel. It is probably my favorite one, at least right now. I love Halloween and this wheel has basically everything I love about Halloween on it, haunted houses, cemeteries and graves, and bats and spiders. The only thing missing is a witch, but come Halloween that is me so I guess it is ok to be missing the witch.

Today we are working on building a dog run in the backyard for our wonderful puppy Meika. She is a Siberian Husky and not so little anymore, even though she is only 5 months old. She will need it for the Fall and Spring when she sheds the most, so my house is still sort of decent. The only downside to this dog run is the 'floor' of it is cement blocks that weight about 110 lbs. Thankfully my wonderful hubby moved almost all of them without my help, so now I am helping as best I can for the rest of stuff. I had better get back out there before he realizes I ditched him to post on here. I think I might even surprise him a little later by making garlic cheese biscuits, you know the ones they make at Red Lobster? I love those and they are sooooo easy to make and one of his favorite things to eat.

I hope you like the card.

Ouchie!!!

This is another Halloween card, and it is called (courtesy of my son) Ouchie bones. I had so much fun making this card. I used a tool I had not used in probably a year. I forgot how much I love the look it gives. I should also mention that the image is stamped in off white, but it looks white in this picture, I am not sure why. I love the look on the skeletons face, it really is priceless and reminds me of a face my son makes often.

Finally done!!!!!!!!!!

It seems like I have been taking pictures of cards forever.... and yet it has only been 3 days. I spent most of today uploading the pictures to my computer and adding my watermark. My hands are cramping from hitting the same keys over and over again. I have a whole new appreciation for my hubby after today. While I was taking pictures of the cards and uploading them my wonderful son decided to name them all, and proceeded to tell me I HAVE to call them by their NAMES....

So this is "pumpkin head hat witch" I love the names he comes up with. He always laughs this wonderful soul filling laugh after naming something too. It is an amazing thing to behold. Anyways I hope you enjoy this card

Flight of the Butterfly

I just love this stamp set. I love butterflies and it is such a great set. I was feeling a little uninspired today, so I made this card to try and get the juices flowing. I always go back to this set when I need a bit of inspiration. I am hoping to get a few more cards done today and then I will be back to scrapbook LO's. I really need to get my son's album going. I am hoping to have it all done by the end of the year. Wish me luck.lol. For those of you that don't know me, while I love scrapbooking, I never ever seem to make any progress. It takes me hours or day to do a LO...I am constantly re-doing it and thinking it could be better. I hope you enjoy today's card

From the Kitchen.

my "photo studio"

I have had a couple requests to see how I photograph my cards and also how I made my photo studio. I took a large-ish diaper box and had my wonderful hubby cut the sides and top out leaving a 1.5 inch frame all the way around. We then cut some white tissue paper to fit on the inside of the box sides and top. I also had my wonderful hubby cover my ugly diaper box with nice IKEA wrapping paper. On the back I attached a piece of white bristle board to the top with double sided tape and it then just sort of hangs down and forms a nice soft round corner as it then comes forward. Because of this it looks like there is basically no background when taking pictures. You can tell that the whole box is not completely covered as everywhere the box folded I left uncovered so it would still 'close'. We left the 'top' side flaps on so I could more easily direct light inside the box if need be. Basically the front opening of this box is where the top was and we cut off the 2 longer flaps and left the shorter side flaps. The back is the old bottom of the box. I also cut 3 pieces of black bristle board about the same size as the 2 sides and top so that if I wanted to block all light from coming in one side I could.

I hope this helps you all out, and if you need more information, please leave me a comment and I will try my best to explain this better.

I am back.... and almost ready to go again.

Up here in Canada Thanksgiving is in October, the 2nd Monday, and it is not as big of a deal as in the US, but I saw the sentiment on Teeny Tiny Wishes and I knew I had to make this card. I hope you like it.

the cat's away....

Ok not really.... the only one still home is the cat, mom's cat. We are all far away for a family wedding and I am going through withdrawals.... I had my newest order arrive before I left and I didn't have time to play at all. I did drop my sister in law's order off for her and now she is making all sorts of wonderful things with them and posting on her blog to taunt me... not nice at all, LOL....... and yet nice since I can't make anything I guess I still get to see cool stuff done, and I just might have to borrow the one stamp set since I love the card she made. She is in my blogs I follow, creativecatsdesigns, so go on over there and take a look.

This is a card I made before I left and had loaded on to the laptop. I am also trying a slightly new system since the new IDA came out. I am no longer listing all the items in a card. If you would like to know what was used please post a comment and I will email you the receipe. If you like the way it used to be before with the whole list and item numbers please also leave a comment and I might just go back to the way it used to be.
