Have a Holly Jolly Christmas

First off I want to apologize for not posting anything the last while. We were insane trying to get everything ready for our Christmas Vacation, and then we were on the road for 2 days, then spent 5 days and we were on the road again for 18 hours. We finally arrived in Logan Utah this morning and have had a great day with family here. We will be leaving again tomorrow around noon for another 14 hours of driving before we end up in Mesa.

Before we left I made a card (a huge card) for Sevastian's Kindergarten class to sign. It ended up being 6x9, and the focal point on the card was 4x5.5. I took it into class for the class party and had all the kids sign it before we tucked the gift card for the teacher and gave it to her at the end of the party.

I love this set, and think it is a great kids set. I also decided to go a little over the top with it, and put shimmer everywhere. There is Dazzlin' Diamonds Glitter pretty much everywhere on the card. I also used Vanilla Smooch Spray to spray the background Bashful Blue piece after I embossed it with the Petals a Plenty embossing folder, and then I used Frost White Shimmer Paint to emboss the top of the petals and topped it off with 3 small Basic Pearls. I also added Rhinestones to the top of several trees.

It's late here, and I am working on almost no sleep, so I'll come back and post the recipes later.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, and an even better time with family.

Vintage Snowflake take 2

I told you the other day that I'd post the other version of the snowflake card I did, so here it is. I wanted to see what it would look like with less white and more blue. What do you guys think of it? Which is your favorite and why?

Stamps: Christmas Punch
Inks: Sahara Sand
Papers: Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Bashful Blue
Misc: Snowflake #2 Die, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Dazzlin Diamonds Glitter, Sponges, Wide Oval Punch, Antique Brads, Snowflake Punch, Dimensionals

Again I used a slightly different Antique Brad for the middle and for this one I put some Dazzlin' Diamonds glitter in the middle of it too. To get the depth between the two snowflakes I placed a dimensional between them and another under the last one so the whole thing would pop up from the card base.

Vintage Snowflake

I'm not the biggest fan of Vintage Style, but it's growing on me. I was over at my Grams place a while back and saw one of her doilies, and it totally reminded me of a snowflake. I wanted to do something with a very vintage feel to it that looked like a snowflake, so I started with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up! I went to SCS and I searched for it, and found a beautiful card by Lee Conroy that used it and the Snowflake #2 die. I fell in love with it and had to CASE it. I changed very little, only the sentiment and the blue snowflake shape. I did a few of these up for my SAS in October, and used several different Antique Brads. Depending on the brad you pick, it totally changes the mood of the card which is wonderful.

Stamps: Christmas Punch
Inks: Sahara Sand
Papers: Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Bashful Blue
Misc: Snowflake #2 Die, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Dazzlin Diamonds Glitter, Sponges, Wide Oval Punch, Antique Brads, Snowflake Punch, Dimensionals

I also did another slightly different version of this card which I'll show you next time. And a quick tip for you, when you care deciding which way to cut your cardstock for a particular card keep in mind what you will be making. This card is quite front and top heavy, so it would have a tendency to fall over if I cut it to 8.5x5.5 and scored it at 4.25, so I cut it to 4.25x11 and scored it at 5.5, that way it folds at the top of the card and is less likely to fall over.

has it really been that long??

Things have been really busy here, and when I went to visit a few of my friends blogs, on the sidebar it said I had updated my blog 5 days ago!! I normally aim for every 2nd day, so I am WAY behind!! I am very sorry for that, I think a big part of it was being nervous for my race on Sunday, and then being sore after. I am quite proud of myself. I was signed up for my very first 10K race and over 5K I took a ton of time of my previous time! I also ended up finishing at a little over 1 minute per Km faster pace than I was hoping to be able to keep up.

Enough of my ramblings, you all are here for a card.... this one is for my Sister in Law and her Hubby. They celebrated their 20th Anniversary last month, and while I do not make cards for every year (my hubby is one of 8, that is a lot of cards) I do do them for every 5 years, which is 4 for this year alone!

Papers: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Soft Suede, Parisian Breeze DSP (retired)

Days to remember

I made this desk top calendar for my hubby for Christmas. I was planning on posting this much earlier, but things have a way of getting away from me some days. I am planning on posting all the months on here, to give you ideas, in case you want to make one yourself.... never to early to get started on Christmas gifts.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Taken with Teal
Paper: Holiday Lounge DSP, Chocolate Chip, Taken with Teal, Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Basic Black, Brushed Silver
Misc: Dazzlin' Diamonds, Cricut

Stamps: Loads of Love, Birthday Bliss
Inks: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Only Orange
Paper: SAB DSP, Green Galore, Real Red, YoYo Yellow, Tempting Turquoise
Misc: Stampin' Dimensionals, 1/2" Real Red Striped Ribbon

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend, and are enjoying the week so far. I spent a fair amount of time playing around with MDS and photoshop trying to make a new blog background. I love what I have created, but so far my dimensions are off, and I only have part of the background showing. Tomorrow I will be getting some help from Michelle over at Shabby Creations and I hope to be showing off my cool new digs very soon.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Be mine

I love black and white and variations of them, and think they always make for wonderful masculine cards. This is from the Nouveau Chic DSP and I love the WHOLE pack. Normally I really like most of the sides, but dislike a few sides, so I end up with 2 of the other side, but not this time! I had used quite a bit of the right side of this paper where it is only circles, but didn't know what I would do with the design on this side. It works perfect for this card, I love it when things work out well by accident.

It is fairly hard to see here, but there is Dazzlin Diamonds Glitter on the left side of the design, it looks great in real life, but did not photograph well at all. I hope you can see it.

Stamps: Holiday Best (level 1 hostess)
Ink: Purely Pomegranate (retired in color) Basic Gray (Stampin' Pastels), Platinum Shimmer Paint
Paper: Basic Gray Cardstock, Brushed Silver Cardstock, Nouveau Chic DSP
Misc: 5/8" Basic Gray Satin Ribbon, Dazzlin Diamonds, Stampin Dimensionals

I hope you all had a great week and are having an even better weekend.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

I Choo-choo choose you....

Do you remember that Simpson's episode? The one where Lisa feels bad for Ralph since no one gave him a Valentine, so she gave him a train one that read I Choo-choo Choose You and then Ralph started to stalk her and all. I love that episode and every year I make my hubby a Valentines card that I can write that in. It's another little joke of ours, cause way back when he thought I was stalking him, when in actuality I was friends with friends of his and was out with them a fair bit.

This is such a fun stamp set and I love doing all sorts of cards with it. My son plays with this set at least once a week, and watching him play with it has inspired a few of my cards. Every time I am scrapping he has to as well. He has a few cheapie stamps for his box of goodies, but he loves to use Stampin Up, so this set and the Prehistoric Pals he can use whenever too. It's quite funny to see a 4 year old boy turn his nose up at 'regular' paper and supplies. He already is a loyal Stampin Up customer, I think mostly cause of the "Yay Man" and the boxes of goodies that "magically" appear, instead of his box that is leftovers from Mum.

Enough of my ramblings, here is the card.

Stamps: Choo-choo, Best Wishes and More, I {love} love jumbo wheel
Inks: Perfect Plum & Pacific Point (retired)
Papers: Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Perfect Plum DSP & Pacific Point (retired)
Misc: Modern Label Punch & Movers and Shapers Die, Dazzlin' Diamonds Glitter, Bashful Blue 1/2" Striped Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

To get the layered effect for the Modern Label Punch I first used the punch on whisper white cardstock and then I used a piece of Pacific Point with the Modern Label Movers & Shapers Bigz XL die for the Big Shot. I love that the pieces for this die are just a little bit bigger than the punches so you can layer them if you want. I will have a card up tomorrow that uses the curly label die for this as well. It is a really neat effect when you cut it out from the card front.

For the smoke stack of hearts I inked up specific hearts from the I {love} love jumbo wheel in Perfect Plum and then cut them out and used Dimensionals to adhere them. After they were on the card I added the Dazzlin' Diamonds, I figured it would be too hard to try to do that one by one.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Holiday Mail...

... so I mailed off all of my Christmas cards today. I ended up making a total of 67 cards. Most were to family.... and several cards were not just from my family but I also included my Grandmother on them too. She lives less than a kilometer from us in an assisted living facility and it is so awesome to have her here. She had surgery on her spine earlier this year and has a very hard recovery, esp since the damn nurses tore BOTH her rotator cuffs and her even more inept Dr didn't do anything for 7!!! freaking months. Anyways it is really hard for her to write still so I decided to help her out this year by sending cards to people I don't normally send cards to and signing her name on them as well so she did not have to. When I took all the cards over to her earlier tonight to show them to her, and to get her seal of approval, she was crying while telling me how beautiful they all were. I have to admit it felt really great not only to help her out, but also to know just how much my Grams appreciates it.

I also went to my niece's birthday party today and after it was over while most of the kids were playing I did some 'playing' with my sister in law. This is the card we made today. We also did a Santa pillow box 'gift bag' and a couple ornaments with glitter and rub-ons.

Stamps: Dasher, Many Merry Messages
Ink: Elegant Eggplant
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Brushed Silver Cardstock
Misc: Orchard Ribbon Originals, Dazzlin' Diamonds Glitter, Large Oval & Scallop Oval Punches

There are just so many things I love about this card. First is the Bride DSP. It is actually white on white, but you can color it, and I did it Elegant Eggplant here. I also love Ric Rak and this is Elegant Eggplant from the Orchard Ribbon Originals. And how can we not mention Dasher?
This is such a wonderful stamp, and he is only 10.95, plus who doesn't love a little bling?

I also made this cake for her birthday. My sister in law saw a cake similar to this online and asked if I would try it. if you couldn't tell from the cake, my niece LOVES The Wiggles.

I am off to bed... I have way to much to do tomorrow to get ready to leave for my wonderful trip to AZ!!!! I am getting very excited.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Flight of the Butterfly

I just love this stamp set. I love butterflies and it is such a great set. I was feeling a little uninspired today, so I made this card to try and get the juices flowing. I always go back to this set when I need a bit of inspiration. I am hoping to get a few more cards done today and then I will be back to scrapbook LO's. I really need to get my son's album going. I am hoping to have it all done by the end of the year. Wish me luck.lol. For those of you that don't know me, while I love scrapbooking, I never ever seem to make any progress. It takes me hours or day to do a LO...I am constantly re-doing it and thinking it could be better. I hope you enjoy today's card

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

the cat's away....

Ok not really.... the only one still home is the cat, mom's cat. We are all far away for a family wedding and I am going through withdrawals.... I had my newest order arrive before I left and I didn't have time to play at all. I did drop my sister in law's order off for her and now she is making all sorts of wonderful things with them and posting on her blog to taunt me... not nice at all, LOL....... and yet nice since I can't make anything I guess I still get to see cool stuff done, and I just might have to borrow the one stamp set since I love the card she made. She is in my blogs I follow, creativecatsdesigns, so go on over there and take a look.

This is a card I made before I left and had loaded on to the laptop. I am also trying a slightly new system since the new IDA came out. I am no longer listing all the items in a card. If you would like to know what was used please post a comment and I will email you the receipe. If you like the way it used to be before with the whole list and item numbers please also leave a comment and I might just go back to the way it used to be.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Pink birthday wishes....

For anyone who know me, you all know that I HATE pink with a passion.... and yet.... Here is a mostly pink card..... and shhhhh.... don't tell anyone, but I actually like it! The more I play with the new in colors, esp the Melon Mambo you see here, the more I really like them, and the more I like this pink... ACKKKKK I can't believe I just said that. I have been doing cards like crazy.... I don't even know how many I have made in the past few days, but it is a lot. I am making them for my open house next Saturday.

This is all Stampin' Up!®, the cardstock is Whisper White (#100730), Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, and Bermuda Bay from the textured 8 1/2 x 11 assorted pack (#115719). I used Crushed Curry 1/2" polka-dot grosgrain ribbon (#115614), Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (#102023) and a brad from the Hodgepodge Hardware Styled Silver kit (#111325). It is such a simple and east to do card, but I think it is really pretty, and who doesn't love a little glitter?

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'
