Sweet birthday

I made this card for my niece's birthday earlier in the month. I was going to post it then, but decided to save it for while I was away. I have set up a few posts to automatically post while I am away so you will have something to come and look at while I am enjoying the warm & sunny (I hope) weather.

This is a case of a card I saw on LeeAnn Greff's blog. I did not have the set she had, so I used my brand spanking new set called Sweet Scoops instead. I could not believe how easy it was to do this card. It looked so pretty on her blog I just had to try it, esp, the syrup on the ice cream.

Stamps: Sweet Scoops
Ink: Tempting Turquoise
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss (retired) SAB paper (retired)
Misc: Corner Rounder Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Crystal Effects, 1/2" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Texturz Impressions Background, Crop-a-dile,

a case of a case

I saw this card on SCS and thought it would be a great one for my stamp club so I cased a case challenge card done by mwben. I changed the colors since I wanted to use perfect plum and I chose Mellow Moss with the help of my fellow SCS-ers.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Perfect Plum Patterns DSP, Mellow Moss, Perfect Plum, Whisper White
Misc: Backgrounds #1 Texturz Plates, Mellow Moss 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Buttons from Fresh Favorites 2.

I am planning on posting another card later this evening that I did with the PPA 37 Challenge in mind, so come back and see that one too.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Pixie Birthday

This is another card that was done with colors I am not used to using. The main pink is Pixie Pink and while it is really bright, it does look nice with other bright colors. This was done for a niece of mine who loves pink.

Stamps: Garden Greetings (retired)
Inks: Real Red, Only Orange, Tempting Turquoise, Pink Passion
Papers: Whisper White, Gable Green, Pixie Pink
Misc: Sponge Daubers, Texturz Plates backgrounds #1

I am off to watch another movie.... Today was my birthday party and a few of us are still here at my place partying the night away as best as we can (seeing as most of us are parents and will need to be up in the am). We are eating tasty dips and drinking awesome beverages.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Holiday Best

Sometimes Hostess sets don't look all that appealing at first, but then you want to make a card and they are the perfect set for that card. This is one of those times. I chose this set only for the Christmas stamp included in it, and did not think I would ever use the other stamps since I do not make thanksgiving cards and my Halloween cards are for kids, not adults and I like them to be funny or scary, not elegant. This Valentines stamp was perfect for a card I wanted to make for my husband.

I used the Nouveau Chic DSP and chalked a little bit more color onto it. This particular piece has a bit of Apricot Appeal on it, but I wanted to add some more Sage Shadow in without it being overpowering, so I used the Stampin' Pastels. They are perfect for adding just a little bot of color since you can really control how much goes on.

Stamps: Holiday Best
Ink: Basic Gray
Paper: Sage Shadow, Basic Gray, Whisper White Cardstocks, Nouveau Chic DSP
Misc: Sponge Daubers, 3/4" Circle Punch, 5/8" Basic Gray Satin Ribbon, Stampin' Pastels, Stampin' Dimensionals, Texturz Plates Backgrounds 1

I love the subtle added dimension that the Texturz Plates add to a project. It is not as crisp or defined as a typical embossing folder, but it still adds a little bit of interest. You can make it pop out more by adding a cardstock shim or two to get more pressure and get more definition.

Also if you are worried about your Satin ribbon fraying an easy way to seal the cut ends is to take your heat gun for embossing and to just hold it near ish the cut ends and it will melt the ends. You don't want to get too close, but you will see the change in the ribbon when you do this. I did it on this ribbon to show you what it looks like. You can barely notice that I did it, but they will not fray anymore.

To get the large scallop border I took 3/4" circles from the punch and cut them in half and placed them under the layer of sage shadow cardstock.

You're a tool...

In a good way though. I love the set Totally Tool. I think it is great for thank you cards for anyone that is handy. I also love doing things that are a little unexpected sometimes and I think that putting real washers on this card is a little unexpected. This card is for someone who has been building me extra storage for all my wonderful scrappy stuff, You Rock!!!

Stamp: Totally Tool
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Basic Black
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Bravo Burgandy, Sahara Sand, To The Nines DSP
Misc: Buttons #5 Die, Texturz Impressions background #1, Metal Washers

I will be quite busy this week getting ready for Christmas, and also getting ready to leave for Arizona for Vacation!!! I am hoping to still get a few posts in, but I have to start and finish making 3 Christmas presents, A Wiggles Car Cake for my niece and Birthday presents as well as planning and making supplies for a Stampers 10 this Friday.

I hope you all have more productive Scrappy time than I will this week.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Sympathy cards

I always have such a hard time doing sympathy, get well and thinking of you cards. I am not sure why but even when I attempt to case someone else's card I still have a hard time with them. The one thing that makes it a bit easier is a great Stamp Set. This uses Thoughts & Prayers and I love this set. It works for sympathy, thinking of you, get well and the tree and flowery vine work for anything! A little while ago one of my husbands co-workers lost her mom and I made this card for her.

Stamp: Thoughts & Prayers
Ink: Soft Suede
Paper: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand
Misc: Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Soft Suede 1/2" Polka Dot Ribbon, Backgrounds #1 Texturz Plates

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Cold & Cuddly....

and boy is it ever cold out! OK I know I am being a wuss, but when I went to work tonight I did not realize it was going to be this cold out, so I didn't bother with a jacket. It was windy and soooo cold when I left, and to top it off the fan in the car doesn't work so I had no heat until after I got home. This card while cute, did not make me feel any warmer, but it was inspired by the cold outside. I also really love using the micro beads, I love the dimension they add.

Stamps: Cold and Cudddly
Inks: In Color Markers ( Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede)
Paper: Very Vanilla Cardstock, Bermuda Bay Cardstock, Soft Suede Cardstock, Whisper White Cardstock
Misc: Micro Beads, Stampin Dimensionals, Texturz Impressions Backgrounds #1, Modern Label Punch, 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon in Soft Suede, Sponge Daubers to 'chalk' the raised image.

Seasons Greetings

I am really loving the simple cards right now. I love the look of this card, and I especially love that it has a little bit of texture that just gives it the finishing touch. There is not much to say about this card except how easy it is to make. I hope you enjoy it.

I am back.... and almost ready to go again.

Up here in Canada Thanksgiving is in October, the 2nd Monday, and it is not as big of a deal as in the US, but I saw the sentiment on Teeny Tiny Wishes and I knew I had to make this card. I hope you like it.

3 more

Here are the other 3 sympathy cards I did tonight. I wanted them to all be different from each other, which was hard since I loved the colors the first one was done with. I tried new color combos tonight and I am pretty happy with the results, esp since I am beyond tired and fell asleep twice while making these cards. I hope I still like them in the morning.

I was asked if I would post the materials used for these cards. I was going to get around to doing that, but just had not yet, it has been a busy few days.

On this card I used Pacific Point, Basic Black, and Whisper White cardstock, ink was Basic Gray, Pacific Point, and Certainly Celery. I used Fifth Ave Floral and Thoughts and Prayers stamp sets.

On this card I used Whisper White, Basic Black and Real Red cardstock, ink was Basic Black, Basic Gray and Real Red, stamp sets were Heartfelt Thanks, Thoughts and Prayers and Soft Summer. I also used 1/4" real red grosgrain ribbon and the large oval and scalloped oval punches and stampin' dimensionals.

On this one I used Pacific Point, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and Almost Amethyst cardstock, ink was Glorious Green, and Pacific Point, Stamp set is Thoughts and Prayers. I also used organza ribbon and the Top Note Bigz Die, and it is really hard to see in this picture since the lighting was bad, but the chocolate chip cardstock was put through the Sizzix with the harlequin texturz plate from backgrounds #1. If you click on the above picture you can see a bigger image and can see the detail a bit better in the chocolate chip cardstock.
