where does time go???

I really don't know. I have the best intentions of posting every second day, and then life gets in the way. I think we are well past the 3 bad things that come together, heck we might even be past 3 sets of 3 at this point. All I know is I am sick of bad things happening, and more than ready for some good.

This is a card from one of my club months. I'm thinking February, but I really don't know anymore.... that's how far behind I am. I love using the Medallion stamp, it just makes the most beautiful cards. I got the idea for this card off the internet somewhere, but now I have no clue where.... I wrote it down on a piece of paper and have since lost it. I changed several parts to it, but it is essentially the same card. There are so many ways to change up the look of the Medallion stamp, and using sponge daubers to create it in 2 tone is one of the best ways. I didn't want the card to look too flat so I sprayed the chocolate chip layer with water and crumpled it before putting it on the card base. It just adds a bit more interest to the card.

It's hard to see here, you really need to see it in real life, but I used shimmer paint and mixed it with rubbing alcohol and created a shimmer spray with the champagne shimmer paint. This card is sooo sparkly in real life. I also used a chocolate chip marker and the color spritzer to create the darker sprinkles on the card.

Stamps: Medallion
Inks: Bravo Burgundy, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip Marker
Papers: Blushing Bride DSP, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red
Misc: Linen Thread, Brights Buttons, Pearls, Small Heart Punch, Heart To Heart Punch, Color Spritzer, Shimmer Paint, Antique Brads, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals

Jolly Jingles

This has to be a quick one cause I am dead tired. I spent the majority of the day at the hospital with my grams. This is another one from one of my Christmas Stamp-A-Stacks.

You can see the shine, but you really can't see the sparkle in these pics, but the whole card really does sparkle in real life, and is completely gorgeous.

Stamps: Tags Til Christmas, Jolly Jingles Jumbo Wheel
Inks: Versa Mark, Old Olive & Real Red Markers
Papers: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler
Misc: Very Vanilla 5/8" Satin Ribbon, Decorative Label Punch, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Sticky Strip (to adhere ribbon), Dimensionals

Peaceful Christmas...

I think that is something we all hope for, but seldom get. I know that around here Christmas is an extremely hectic and crazy time. We have a great time very year, love the company, have more fun than we can imagine, but it is never peaceful. I love this stamp set, but wonder how the term Peace on Earth was associated with Christmas. This is one of the cards we did in this round of Christmas Stamp-A-Stacks... well almost theirs is slightly different, the card base was Cherry Cobbler instead of Early Espresso.

Stamps: Peaceful Season (level 2 hostess)
Inks: Wild Wasabi, Cherry Cobbler, VersaMark
Papers: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
Misc: Clear Embossing Powder, Basic Pearls, Sponges, Dimensionals

I had a great weekend teaching classes, but now I have to get on to something a bit more important. Christmas shopping/making for my hubby. If anyone has any great ideas on what to get or make for a computer guy who loves the outdoors, and wood working I'm totally open to suggestions. I have such a hard time every year trying to find a great present for him. It can't be large in size either cause I need to pack it into the car, since we do Christmas every year in Arizona.

I have tons more cards to show you all in the coming days and weeks before Christmas. I'm hoping to get one up every day, but life might change those plans.

Step it up, card 3

Here is card 3 as promised. I had a great afternoon with some great people today, and I will be doing this class again tomorrow and Monday night. I love Christmas, and I love making cards, so these classes are a ton of fun for me. This card is pretty easy to see what I did to change it up. I sponged Real Red onto the top of the embossed part of the card.

Stamps: Tags Til Christmas
Inks: Old Olive, Real Red (markers)
Papers: Very Vanilla, Old Olive
Misc: Petals A Plenty Embossing Folder, 5/8" Real Red Satin Ribbon, Decorative Label Punch

So can you tell which idea was mine, and which was hubby's? Card 2 or 3? I am totally spoiled by hubby. I know most husbands don't even look twice at the stuff their wives make, let alone help out with ideas. And not only does he help out with ideas and tell me his opinion (when I ask) he also is great about me buying tons of stuff for my addiction/hobby. And even better, he looks after the kid when I am teaching, and when we go to Arizona and I want to get together with other demo friends. Talk about lucky right?

I am off to bed, I have to get up tomorrow and help mom with a quilt for the kids bed before I teach another class in the afternoon. Hope you all are having a great weekend so far.

Step it up, card 2

Well it took longer than I thought to get back on here. It's amazing how hectic life can get as soon as the road conditions are not great and snowy. Here is card 2 of 3. This one only has a slight change, but I love how much more the tag pops because of it. I punched out the Decorative Label Punch in Real Red and Old Olive and cut the pieces in the corners and added them behind the original one. Just that little bit extra makes the card that much nicer.

Stamps: Tags Til Christmas
Inks: Old Olive, Real Red (markers)
Papers: Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Real Red
Misc: Petals A Plenty Embossing Folder, 5/8" Real Red Satin Ribbon, Decorative Label Punch

I am off to teach a Christmas Card Class, but I will post the 3rd card later tonight. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Step it up, card 1

I was making Christmas cards the other day and this one popped into my head. As soon as I was done with it I immediately figured out how I could make it look better. I decided to go ahead and turn it into a step it up card. My hubby was in the room with me, and looked at it and said, why don't you try this, so I did both. I will show you those tomorrow, and the next day. You will have to guess which idea was mine and which was hubby's.

Brayered Night Sky

I really love how simple it is to create a simple, yet beautiful background using a brayer. More and more the brayer is becoming my tool of choice when I want to create a simple easy and fast card.

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree
Inks: Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black
Paper: Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant
Misc: White Gel Pen, Brayer, Post it note (for masking), Black Marker

Beautiful Hydrangea.... take 1

I LOVE Hydrangeas, and I am beyond thrilled that Stampin' Up! has this new level 1 hostess set. It is called Because I Care, and it is now my new favorite set. This is take 1 of this set. I am actually doing it in a 3 part set, each one a little bit more embellished than the last. This is to showcase how you can step something up and create a different card, with only a few additions.
You start out with a very simple card, and just keep adding.

It is a little hard to see from the angle, but there are a few extra blossoms that are popped up for added depth.
Stamps: Because I Care (Level 1 Hostess), Occasional Quotes (Level 3 Hostess)
Inks: Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, Concord Crush, Basic Black
Paper: Watercolor Paper, Marina Mist, Concord Crush
Misc: Aqua Pen

I will add the take 2 of this card later today or most likely tomorrow. I am dog sitting for my sister in law, and I am planning on taking both dogs out for a long walk soon, probably around 5-8 kms in hopes of tiring them out so they behave well. They are the funniest dogs when they are together. Meika (our dog) is a brat and will chase Shasta for hours, but Shasta doesn't like it and takes for ever to learn/remember that if she just sits still, Meika gets bored and stops.

How much I love you

This is somewhat of a joke card.... I am always telling my hubby to stop annoying me, either because he is quoting Monty Python for the millionth time, or some Bill Cosby joke, or something else similar to that, so when I saw the 'you don't annoy me' on the new Like-O-Meter stamp I just had to make this card for him. I also think that the order is somewhat messed up, if I had made this stamp the order would have been: 'I'd marry you again', 'You don't annoy me', I want to marry you', 'like like you', 'a lot but not like a stalker', 'more than just friends', 'like a brother', 'like a friend', 'I'm over you'. I also though it would be funny if the one line read "a lot, LIKE a stalker", but that is just my skewed sense of humour.

Stamps: Like-O-Meter
Ink: Basic Black, Bermuda Bay & Rich Razzleberry Markers
Paper: Welcome Neighbour DSP (from the SAB catty), Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Whisper White
Misc: Basic Black 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Pinking Hearts Border Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

I started a scrapbook layout today, but did not get finished since I got another wonderful migraine, but I am hoping to finish it tomorrow and get it posted on here as soon as it is done. Stampin' Up! announced another few digital downloads and the new paper kit is called Sweet Pea, it is all the paper from the Sweet Pea DSP pack as well as the stitched felt and a stamp set that corresponds with it. I LOVE this paper, and I am so glad that I can use it digitally too. I will get the new downloads posted on here in the next day or so. This is going to be a busy week, I am finishing up all the plans for my sons birthday party as well as a small party for him and a couple friends on his actual birthday, so that will cut into my scrappy time this week, but I am sure hoping to get lots done in between party planning and baking.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Butterflies and love....

First off, please let me apologize for the bad pictures... my camera got dropped the other day by my son and it is acting up. I am hoping to get it fixed soon, but until then, I think the colors are a little messed up when I zoom in.

I am loving the new jumbo wheel from Stampin' Up! I really am a fan of the wheel to start with, but this new one is great. Because of how the words line up, you can use just part of it if you want, like tomorrow's card, or the whole thing like today's card. You can even take the rubber off the wheel and cut the stamp up into about 10-13 different stamps. I have made 4 or 5 cards that have very different looks with this set so far, and I think I will end up making a few more too. Not bad for a $9.95 stamp right?

Stamps: I {love} Love jumbo wheel
Ink: Taken with Teal, Melon Mambo
Paper: Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Taken with Teal, Melon Mambo Textured
Misc: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Heart to Heart Punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, Stampin' Dimensionals

I was planning on sitting down and actually getting some scrapbooking done today, but with the weather being so beautiful outside that plan is out the window literally. I am only inside while my son is having an afternoon snack, and then it is back outside to play in the melting snow and mud puddles. Remember when you were little and loved to go and get just disgustingly filthy in the mud? Now I know how my mom felt about cleaning us up when we were done....my tub will need a good cleaning tonight, that's for sure. The up side is I will have some great pictures to scrapbook if I ever get around to it.

Hope you all are having great days too. Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

sweetheart flower

I have been busy the last couple days making a ton of Valentines cards. I really like the new set Sweetheart. There is soooo much you can do with it.

Stamps: Sweetheart, Well Scripted
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay (markers)
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry
Misc: Heart to Heart Punch, Eyelet Punch, Polka Dot Ribbon

I am also working on a bit of a surprise for my hubby and since he reads my blog I won't be posting a ton until after I give it to him. I will still be posting a few cards here and there, but not too much cause I don't want to give the surprise away.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Sweet Pea

I finally had a bit of time to myself today and I got immediately started on a card. I had new goodies dropped off yesterday by the wonderful "Yay Man" (what my son calls the UPS man) and I wanted to play with them.

I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do, but I had a bit of a starting point in mind after seeing a card some what similar to this somewhere in the last two weeks. If the idea came from any of you I sincerely apologize, I did not even save the picture or name of the blog, so I can not give proper credit. I do remember that they used the stitched felt and did some faux stitching but that is really all I remember of it. Please leave me a comment here if this idea was yours so I can give you credit for the idea.

Stamps: none
Ink: none
Paper: Sahara Sand, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Welcome Neighbor DSP (a SAB item)
Misc: Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon, Sweet Pea Stitched Felt

I also wanted to re-post the photos of the My Matryoshka card I did in Arizona. It looks so much nicer in proper lighting. I really love the new Scallop Trim border punch. It is so nice to be able to get a punch from the SAB offerings too. I mean really, who doesn't love FREE stuff, esp when it is this nice!!!

That's it for me today.... I am now working on supper for my boys and then I think we will be putting on a puppet show for Daddy.... we spent a good while today working on it while he was at work.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

мо матрёшка.....окончательно (My Matryoshka....Finally....)

огорченно для задержки (Sorry for the delay) I had started this card last week after we arrived on vacation and just never got back to it, so I sat down tonight and finished it up. This is the new set called My Matryoshka (мо матрёшка). Я люблю этот комплект (I love this set)!! I have always loved the Russian language, and while my written and spoken skills were never that great, I still loved speaking in Russian. My Great Grandmother was born in Russia and came to Canada when she was about 10. She used to try and teach us when we visited, but it never really stuck for long. I had always wanted to actually learn, and after a university course and dating a guy for 4 years that came from Russia I got pretty good. Unfortunately I have not really spoken or written Russian for ohhh about 9 years, so I am very rusty and if I have bad grammar or spelling I apologize.

This set actually has a set of 4 of these wonderful nesting dolls, and I only stamped the one for this card. I also used the brand new Scallop TRIM Punch (Thanks Diana for letting me borrow yours). Both the stamp set and the punch will be available Jan 5th, once the new Mini Occasion and the Sale-A-Bration catty's start. I also have to apologize for the horrific lighting and colors, I will re-do these once I get home so you can see how pretty it really is.

Stamp set: My Matryoshka
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Almost Amethyst, Bashful Blue, Barely Banana, Mellow Moss, Certainly Celery, Lovely Lilac, and Pretty in Pink (all Markers)
Paper: Whisper White, Mellow Moss, Bashful Blue, Bashful Blue DSP, Lovely Lilac
Misc: Stampin' Dimensionals, Scallop TRIM Punch

In case you are interested I thought I would post a little bit about the Matryoshka dolls.... I copied most of this from google.....and if you are not interested this is basically the end of the post, so feel free to stop reading.

A matryoshka doll, also known as a Russian nested doll or a babushka doll, is a set of dolls of decreasing sizes placed one inside the other. A set of matryoshkas consists of a wooden figure which separates, top from bottom, to reveal another figure of the same sort inside, which has, in turn, another figure inside of it, and so on. The number of nested figures is usually five or more. The form is approximately cylindrical, with a rounded top for the head, tapering toward the bottom, with little or no protruding features; the dolls have no hands (except those that are painted). Traditionally the outer layer is a woman, dressed in a sarafan. The figures inside may be of either gender; the smallest, innermost doll is typically a baby, and does not open. The artistry is in the painting of each doll, which can be extremely elaborate.

Matryoshkas date from 1890, the first Russian nested doll set was carved by Vasily Zvyozdochkin from a design by Sergey Malyutin, who was a folk crafts painter in the Abramtsevo estate of the Russian industrialist and patron of arts Savva Mamontov. The doll set was painted by Maliutin himself. In 1900, Savva Mamontov's wife presented the dolls at the World Exhibition in Paris, and the toy earned a bronze medal. Soon after, matryoshki dolls were being made in several places in Russia.

Modern artists create many new styles of nesting dolls. Common themes include animal collections, portraits and caricatures of famous politicians, musicians and popular movie stars. Matryoshka dolls that feature communist leaders of Russia became very popular among Russian people in the early 1990s, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Today, some Russian artists specialize in painting themed matryoshka dolls that feature specific categories of subjects, people or nature.

A doll which represents an old woman is often called a baboushka or babushka, that which represents an old man a dedoushka or dedushka.

Areas with notable matryoshka styles include Sergiyev Posad, Semionovo (now the town of Semyonov), Polkholvsky Maidan, and Kirov

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about these amazing nesting dolls. My hubby John actually has a set that he bought in France that are from Moscow originally, and I just love them. I used to have a set that I got in Novosibirsk and had the traditional 5 dolls, but a very not nice person stole them from me years ago, but I am hoping one day to go back there and get another set.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

I just love this stamp set. I have been playing with the new In Colors again and figured I would use a favorite stamp set. I love the look of all the flowers in this set, but the rose is especially gorgeous.

Train load of fun

I just love this little train set. I have used it for so many different occasions and for kids and adults. I was wanting to see if I could use it for Christmas too and this is what I came up with. I really love my In Color markers, they make coloring in small areas on stamps soooooo easy. Cute & Cuddly is also a new favorite of mine, as is the new holiday lounge DSP. I hope you all like it as much as I do.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Birthday Celebrations

I think this might just squeek in under the wire for getting posted 'today'. I did this one up for my open house last month. I love playing with the markers, and this is a great stamp set for using markers to tint the ends of your flower petals. I am running off to bed again as this is another crazy busy week, but I thought I would give you all some 'happy lations' as my son calls this card.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'
