Flower Fancy

Have you ever been completely out of sync with the current season? I totally was when I made this card. Here it is spring and I was inspired by thanksgiving colors, of course that is really not all that surprising given the weather when I made it. Spring just doesn't want to come and stay. Every time it looks like it will stay nice out, it starts to snow or rain, and today we are getting both snow and rain. Looks like I will be hitting the treadmill instead of the pavement tonight for my running.

Enough of my ramblings back to the card.... I love the look of hodgepodge hardware, but sometimes there are not a lot of stamps that fit inside. Teeny Tiny Wishes is a set that fits inside almost all of the pieces. I love this set, and use it more than any other set I own. Watercoloring is such a great look, but can be hard to achieve. With the set Flower Fancy you can get the look so easily. It is a 2 step stamp, so all you do is stamp with the outline image and then stamp the solid image over top and you are done.

Stamps: Flower Fancy, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive,
Paper: Pumpkin Pie DSP (hostess paper pack), Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Whisper White
Misc: 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Hodgepodge Hardware

For You

Apparently not all of my pre-done posts worked while I was gone. I had figured out a different way to do a few and tried that way too, but it did not work at all.

I really love the sweet treat cups from Stampin' Up! You can do so many things with them, and you don't even need the stamp sets that go with them if you really don't want. This card was done with a set called sweet centers out of the last holiday mini.

Stamps: Sweet Centers (holiday mini) Teeny Tiny Wishes, Fifth Ave Floral
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White Craft, Melon Mambo, Soft Suede
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White,
Misc: Chocolate Chip Corduroy Buttons, 1/2" Rich Razzleberry Ribbon, Sweet Treat Cups

love you much....

I saw a card done a while back by Mary Fish, and loved the paper she used, so I tried to case it. It was a while ago and I didn't save the link to go back to, so I am pretty sure this is really close to what she actually did, but I am not 100%. This paper is from the new stack called sweet pea, and I love this paper! It is so awesome. I have been using it a lot lately. It is great for scrapbooking.

Stamps: Well Scripted
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, DSP Sweet Pea
Misc: Trio Flower Punch, Brads, Texture Embossing Folder, 5/8" Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon, Full Heart Punch

Vintage Flowers

Vintage Vogue is probably my favorite new stamp set. I love the many different looks you can achieve with this one stamp set. Plus I am a sucker for a good flower set. This one is a case of a shoe box swap I did at Regionals. I am always amazed at the different styles and color combos other people come up with. This is probably one of my favorite swaps ever!

Stamps: Vintage Vogue
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry
Paper: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry
Misc: Rhinestone Brads, 1/4" Chocolate Chip, Grosgrain Ribbon, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Stampin' Dimensionals

To get the softer Bermuda Bay On the Very Vanilla piece with the ribbon, I first stamped the image on the paper in the middle, and then without re-inking it I stamped it again off to the side, to fill in the paper, but with a softer look. This technique is called stamping off, and you can achieve some gorgeous results.

Sweet birthday

I made this card for my niece's birthday earlier in the month. I was going to post it then, but decided to save it for while I was away. I have set up a few posts to automatically post while I am away so you will have something to come and look at while I am enjoying the warm & sunny (I hope) weather.

This is a case of a card I saw on LeeAnn Greff's blog. I did not have the set she had, so I used my brand spanking new set called Sweet Scoops instead. I could not believe how easy it was to do this card. It looked so pretty on her blog I just had to try it, esp, the syrup on the ice cream.

Stamps: Sweet Scoops
Ink: Tempting Turquoise
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss (retired) SAB paper (retired)
Misc: Corner Rounder Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Crystal Effects, 1/2" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Texturz Impressions Background, Crop-a-dile,

I love butterflies

I love swapping. You get so many wonderful cards that you can then either give just as is, or you can keep them and case them. This is a swap I got at Regionals and I love the color combo, so I decided to case it.

Stamp: Baroque Motifs
Ink: Whisper White, Basic Black, Mellow Moss
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Mellow Moss, Cameo Coral
Misc: Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die

Just a heads up that I am heading out of town tomorrow, I have set up a few posts for you while I am gone, but since I have never done it before, I am crossing my fingers that it will work.

Clear Mount Stamp Tutorial

Here is my 2nd tutorial. I had tried to do both the clear blocks and the cling mount stamps on the same tutorial, but I ran out of time, since Youtube only allows 10 min clips. I hope after watching it you will want to try them out for yourself.

Please click on over to my Tutorials page for today's video.

Clear Block Tutorial

Well I finally figured it all out and even managed to get the tutorial uploaded to Youtube. I am quite proud of myself. I had a ton of issues, and after getting extremely frustrated my amazing hubby figured out how to convert the vob files into mpg files so I could edit the tutorial. When I was done with that, while I was trying to upload it to Youtube my internet kept cutting out, so I had to keep restarting, but it finally finished.

Please click on over to my Tutorials page for today's video.

Video tutorials coming soon.

I have some news for you! I have spent the last day and a half figuring out how to tape and edit video tutorials. I have had several requests for video instead of photo tutorials, and I figured since I had a camcorder, why not. Turns out my camcorder stores the files in a not so used file type and converting them is a total pain, BUT I finally figured out how to do it. I will post them here once I finally have them uploaded to Youtube. I also had no idea that there was a time limit as well as a size limit so I had to redo the first one and it still took 93 mins to upload.

I am also taking requests for ideas for my future tutorials. Please let me know if there are any techniques you want to learn and I will do my best to get a tutorial made for you.

Since I am sure you are all here looking for something more than me just rambling about what I will be doing in the next day or so, here is another card. Just before Calgary Regionals I went to another demo's house for a shoebox swap. It was a blast and I loved all the cards we did. I am not sure whose design this was originally, but when my grams wanted a card to give to my step mom I knew they both would love this card, so I cased it exactly.

Stamps: Whimsical Words, Baroque Motifs
Inks: Whisper White Craft, Elegant Eggplant
Paper: Pale Plum, Basic Gray
Misc: 5/8" White Organza Ribbon, Half Back Pearls from the Pretties Kit, Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, Stampin' Dimensionals, Top Note Die, Horizontal Slot Punch

Another PPA 37 challenge card

So I am not sure if I can enter more than 1 card into the Pals Paper Arts challenge, but I had so much fun making the last one, that I decided to do another. I had seen a card quite similar to this on the Stampin' Up! boards at Regionals or Conference or something and I loved it so I sketched it out and tried it today.

I also tried a few other things I have never done before. I took my Rich Razzleberry Marker and colored in the White 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon, and I took this picture while it was still wet, so it looks a lot darker than it is. I also took a sponge dauber to the edges of the flower to sort of simulate the rocker technique. And lastly, while I had done it before, I figured I should mention it anyways. For the little flowers I stamped the first one and then without re-inking it I stamped it again. for the 3rd flower I only slightly colored the stamp and then lightly pressed it to the paper, so I would have 3 levels of color. Then I sprayed the whole card with Platinum Shimmer Paint that I mixed up into a spray bottle, to make shimmer spray.

Stamps: For all you do
Ink: Basic Gray, More Mustard, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, Garden Green.
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla, Basic Gray
Misc: Platinum Shimmer Paint, Word Window Punch, 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon, Sponge Daubers, Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Folder, Stampin Dimensionals

Crushed Curry is one of the colors on the farewell list, so if you like it, you might want to stock up on it.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

a case of a case

I saw this card on SCS and thought it would be a great one for my stamp club so I cased a case challenge card done by mwben. I changed the colors since I wanted to use perfect plum and I chose Mellow Moss with the help of my fellow SCS-ers.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Perfect Plum Patterns DSP, Mellow Moss, Perfect Plum, Whisper White
Misc: Backgrounds #1 Texturz Plates, Mellow Moss 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Buttons from Fresh Favorites 2.

I am planning on posting another card later this evening that I did with the PPA 37 Challenge in mind, so come back and see that one too.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

all that glitters.....PPA37 challenge

I love glitter! I know it is messier than other things you can add to cards but it is also so much nicer that it is worth the mess. Unfortunately it does not photograph well.... I tried and tried to get a good picture that shows just how glittery this card is, but it looks so much prettier in real life. I was sitting down on thursday afternoon trying to figure out the last card for my stampers group (yes I know I should have had it done by monday, but.... oh well) and I was perusing blogs and came across Paper Pals Arts and their challenge for a flower card. I looked at my sticky cuts, since I knew I wanted to glitter something and I saw these flowers and figured they would be great! I have never actually participated in their challenges before, I normally just get color ideas or sketch ideas, but since I needed to make a card today anyways, I figured why not do this challenge.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Almost Amethyst
Paper: Whisper White, Almost Amethyst, Elegant Eggplant, SAB paper
Mics: Fine Cosmo Glitter, Sticky Cuts Sweet, Stampin Dimensionals

I just had to use my Almost Amethyst paper. It is one of my favorites and I am sad to see that it will be leaving the color collection come July, but I will be stocking up on it before it leaves. If there are any cardstock colors you just love, I would highly recommend you do the same and stock up on them. If you live in Canada I would love to help you with any orders or questions, and if you live in the US and need a demo please visit my friend Diana's wonderful blog (http://dianagibbs.typepad.com/stampin_with_di/) and contact her. She is an amazing demo and can definitely help you out. I wouldn't wait either if I were you, because soon it will be while supplies last and you don't want to miss out on your favorites just because you waited an extra day.

Anyone Interested??

I am wondering if any one is interested in ordering any inkjet-printable clear static cling sheets from me. They are fantastic for un-mouting your wood mount stamps and turning them into cling mount, just like Stampin' Up!'s brand new cling mount stamps.

HERE is a video done by another great blogger Mary where she shows you the whole process and how wonderful and easy they are to use.

I am placing an order for these sheets and am trying to decide whether to order a box of 100 or just another 10. If you are interested I would be selling them to you for only 1.25 a sheet shipped, instead of the 2.00 or so a sheet if you buy them from the vendor in packs of 10 or the almost 3.00 a sheet if you buy them from ebay. Please leave me a comment here or email if you are interested, I am wanting to place the order late next week at the latest.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'

Is it too early for Christmas??

just kidding.... this is from Christmas 07.... and I did this up in ...... you guessed it..... MDS! I love how quick and easy it it to get wonderful pages. I changed a bit on these 2 pages, and added a few things as well, but I started with a fully done page and I think it took me a whole 3 mins to do this LO.

I would write more, but I need to get my butt in bed... I have to be up at 6 to make buns for the Easter feast later today (Saturday).... sad isn't it when you go to bed and wake up on the same day.

Until next time, Happy Scrappin'
